Ajax made it three wins in the last seven days with a 2-0 win at Heracles in Almelo.

ajax-her-klaaThree days after their win in Greece against Panathinaikos, Peter Bosz’s side started sluggishly and they only came alive in the last ten minutes of the first half, with Davinson Sanchez sliding the ball wide from a few yards out, while Jairo Riedewald had a goal disallowed.

Early in the second half, Heracles had a great chance to take the lead when following a quick free kick, Jaroslav Navratil found Samuel Armenteros in the box, but the striker could only fire straight at Andre Onana.

On 66 minutes Ajax broke the deadlock with a massive helping hand from Heracles defender Tim Breukers. A cross from Mitchell Dijks seemed harmless but Breukers misjudged it and allowed the ball to come off his back and fall to the feet of Davy Klaassen who fired past Bram Castro.

Sanchez saw a header cleared off the goal line before Nemanja Gudelj made it 2-0 on 77 minutes with a strong run into the box before firing low past Castro and into the bottom corner.

The victory lifts Ajax up to third and level on points with PSV and AZ Alkmaar, while Heracles are 11th.
