According to De Telegraaf, Ajax are trying to convince Andre Onana to stay next season and have offered the goalkeeper a new contract.

The Cameroonian is expected to depart Ajax this summer with several top European clubs linked such as Barcelona, Chelsea, and PSG. In England, The Athletic reported on Monday that Chelsea had been in constant contact with Onana’s agents.

However, De Telegraaf is reporting that the interest around Onana has gone cold in recent weeks due to the coronavirus outbreak having an effect on finances and that Ajax is sensing an opportunity to keep their number one at the club.

Ajax director Marc Overmars will offer Onana a new one-year contract extension in order to convince him to remain for another season in Amsterdam.

Onana wants time to consider the offer and see if any clubs shore up their interest later in the summer.
