Ajax U19’s defeated FC Midtjylland 3-1 on Tuesday to book their place in the UEFA Youth League semi-finals.

John Heitinga’s side defeated Atletico Madrid before the football lockdown to book their place in the quarter-finals, and on Tuesday they proved too strong for Midtjylland.

Christian Rasmussen gave Ajax a first half lead with an excellent strike from outside the box before Sontje Hansen doubled the lead early in the second half.

Midtjylland then pulled one back but  Joel Ideho quickly restored the two goal advantage and the 3-1 win saw Ajax progress to the last four.

Ajax will now face Benfica on Sunday for a place in the final.
