Ajax have announced that Joel Veltman will be out of action for months through injury.

The centre-back injured his knee in the win over PSV Eindhoven but it wasn’t deemed too serious at the time.

However, Ajax announced on Monday that Veltman would need surgery and will be out for at least two months.

It’s another blow for the defender, who has struggled throughout his career with injuries. He is likely to be replaced by Perr Schuurs or Edson Alvarez in the centre of Erik ten Hag’s back four.
