Ajax has confirmed the signing of Rangers defender Calvin Bassey for an initial fee of €23 million.

With the departure of Lisandro Martinez, Ajax has moved quickly to sign a replacement with Bassey already joining up with his new teammates in Austria.
The versatile centre-back has signed a five-year deal and joins Ajax for a fee of €23 million which could rise to €26.5 million through bonuses.
The Nigerian started his career in the youth team of Leicester City before joining Rangers. He impressed in the Europa League last season as the Scottish side reached the final.
Bassey is Ajax’s third summer signing after Owen Wijndal and Steven Bergwijn.
