According to Voetbal International, Ajax will quickly decide the future of veteran striker Klaas Jan Huntelaar.

The 36-year-old’s contract expires this season but there is an extension, on the same terms, that will be triggered on April 1st.

According to VI, Ajax will terminate Huntelaar’s contract in the next week before that extension is triggered. After it’s terminated, Ajax and the striker can then sit down and discuss a new contract.

Huntelaar has previously stated his desire to continue playing until he is forty and he has featured regularly for Ajax this season. In 18 league appearances, mostly from the bench, he has nine goals and two assists.

In 74 games since returning to the club from Schalke, Huntelaar has 38 goals.
