Ajax are set to seal their first January transfer after agreeing a deal with Independiente for Nicolás Tagliafico.

According to Voetbal International, Ajax have agreed a fee of €4.5 million with Independiente for the 25-year-old, who will sign a four-and-a-half year deal in Amsterdam.
The left-back started his career with Banfield before a loan spell in Spain with Murcia. Tagliafico joined Independiente in 2015 and has made 76 appearances for the club. Borussia Dortmund and Freiburg had reportedly shown interest recently but it’s Ajax who have swooped first for the one-time Argentinian international.
Independiente have included a sell-on percentage in the deal, meaning they will receive a chunk of any future money Ajax make from the defender.
