The 3-0 win in Moscow two weeks ago put Ajax in a comfortable position going into the second leg and two goals from young striker Kaj Sierhuis confirmed their position in the next round.
Ajax took the lead on 25 minutes when Abdelhak Nouri’s free kick came back off the bar and Sierhuis provided the final touch to prod it over the line. Ten minutes after the break it was 2-0 as Sierhuis rose to brilliantly head in Gino Dekker’s cross.
Lomovitiski pulled a goal back for the Russian’s, and although Spartak came close to equalising on several occasions Ajax held on for victory.
Ajax will find out their opponents for the next round when the draw takes place on December 14th.
