ajaapopeWim Jonk’s side were already assured of their place in the next round after a 6-3 win over PSG last month, but they sealed top spot with a simple win over APOEL.

After only seven minutes Donny van de Beek netted from close range after being found by Robert Muric, but APOEL equalised on 21 minutes through Charalambous, who capitalised on an error from goalkeeper Stan van Bladeren.

Zakaria El Azzouzi, who scored four against PSG in the last tie, restored Ajax’s lead just before the break with a low drive from just inside the box.

Abdelhak Nouri made it 3-1 on 51 minutes before El Azzouzi netted his second of the game four minutes later to seal the victory, Ajax’s fourth in six group games.

Ajax will now await their opponents in the next round with Olympiakos, Liverpool, and  Zenit three of the potential opponents in the knockout round.
