Ajax can seal top spot in Group G with a victory over Panathinaikos on Thursday but Peter Bosz is set to rotate his line-up.

ajax-celta-dolbergAjax have already sealed their place in the next round of the competition with two games to spare, but the club will want to finish top of the group in order to be top seeds for the knockout round.

However, speaking at his press conference, Peter Bosz confirmed he will rest some of the players that hammered NEC 5-0 in the league at the weekend. He said,  “Some other players will play, but it is not true that everyone gets rest. It is always difficult to say how this turns out. In the battle for the KNVB Cup twice went well, but now we play against an opponent of a different calibre. We are also working on our playing style, so we can not change much. But the players who do not always play I’d like to see at this level, they also need to develop in our way of playing. ”

Hakim Ziyech and Jairo Riedewald will miss the tie through injury, Davy Klaassen and Davinson Sanchez will both be rested, while Riechedly Bazoer has been dropped for disciplinary reasons. According to De Telegraaf, the likes of Heiko Westermann, Vaclav Cerny and Abdelhak Nouri will get a chance from the start.

Predicted Ajax line-up: Onana; Tete, De Ligt, Westermann, Dijks; Van de Beek, Schöne, Nouri; Cerny, Cassierra, Younes

Opponents Panathinaikos, who Ajax beat 2-1 in Greece, are currently bottom of Group G with only one point from their opening four games and a defeat will all but end their chances of progression. With domestic football currently cancelled in Greece, Panathinaikos go into the game with fresh legs having last played at the start of November in a 3-0 defeat to Olympiakos.
