The 34-year-old returned to Amsterdam last summer on a one-year deal as a stand in for Kasper Dolber, however, the Dane’s poor form and injury have seen Huntelaar play first-choice for most of the campaign.
In 22 Eredivisie matches, Huntelaar has contributed eleven goals and seven assists while his experience behind the scenes has also been valuable for the club.
According to Voetbal International, it is now likely that Huntelaar will sign another short-term contract with the club to remain at the Johan Cruyff ArenA next season.
