Ajax have been easing to wins in the Eredivisie in recent weeks and FC Emmen were the latest side to be ripped apart by the Amsterdam side.
Davy Klaassen opened the scoring in the 20th minute with a lucky finish after being set up by Lassina Traore. Zakaria Labyad then made it 2-0 with an excellent volley on the half-hour mark before Traore made it 3-0 before the break.
Erik ten Hag decided to bring on Klaas Jan Huntelaar and Quincy Promes for the second half as Dusan Tadic and Traore were given a rest. Nicolas Tagliafico, Daley Blind and David Neres were left out of the starting eleven ahead of the Liverpool clash on Tuesday.
In the 64th minute, substitute Jurgen Ekkelenjamp made it 4-0 on the rebound. Ten Hag then decided to hand Devyne Rensch his first team debut. Last week the 17-year-old defender was named the Ajax talent of the year.
Promes added a fifth goal before the end to seal a comfortable win for the visitors, who move five points clear at the top of the table. Emmen are bottom of the table.
