Netherlands U19’s will be unable to call upon four regular’s from Ajax for the European Championships, due to the Amsterdam club’s participation in the Champions League qualifiers.

bazoer ajagjAjax will start their campaign to reach the Champions League group stages in mid-July, the exact time that Netherlands U19’s will be participating in the European Championships.

The Amsterdam club have spoken to the KNVB, and it has been agreed that midfielder’s Riechedly Bazoer, Jairo Riedewald, and Donny van de Beek, along with left back Mauro Savastano can all avoid a call up for the tournament.

Bazoer has become a key member of the Ajax first team this season, while Riedewald, also has 23 first team appearances in the Eredivisie. Van de Beek and Savastano are stars of the clubs U19 side, but will be promoted to the first team for next season.

Ajax boss Frank de Boer said on the decision, “They had twelve boys selected from Ajax and also understood themselves that all twelve could not go”
