The defender spent the first six months of the season on loan with Bournemouth and was a regular starter in the Premier League. However, he was recalled by Chelsea in January and barely featured for Antonio Conte’s side that lifted the league title.

Speaking to AD about his future, Ake said, “I think I get a big say in what is going to happen this summer. I have to play as much as possible. This can be in several positions, but left center back feels best. We’ll see if Chelsea could offer me the playing time”

Ake is currently with the Dutch national team and could make his debut for Oranje. Ivory Coast boss Marc Wilmots recently tried to convince the 22-year-old to switch his allegiances, but Ake always saw Netherlands as his first choice.

He said on his conversation with Wilmots, “I said i can always think, but Oranje would in principle be my first choice. I think Wilmots understood though.”

Should Nathan Ake feature against Luxembourg on the 9th of June then he would officially be tied to Netherlands.
