The 27-year-old left back signed a contract until 2019 on Monday to seal his return to Arnhem after having his contract with Dynamo Moscow dissolved last month.

Buttner said, ”It feels great to be back  It’s like coming home and I have seen a lot of familiar faces. I played at Vitesse for a while and I have now seen a lot of the world. I have played at big clubs and I have now made the choice to play my football closer to home.

”I hear people talking on TV that I have only played a handful of games. But in the case of Manchester United I played a lot more games for them that I could only dream of and who can say that they became Champions with Manchester United, not many.

”Every footballer wants to play abroad and has ambitions. I am planning to fully focus on Vitesse and then we will see what happens. I saw them play against FC Twente yesterday and it’s a nice team that played very well. I believe that they have a lot of young players and a good mix of experienced players too.
