The win on Saturday evening was ADO Den Haag’s 3rd victory in the last seven days to ease their relegation fears. After the match, Groenendijk stated that a process of all players and staff working hard has put them in a position to stay up.

He said, ”This is one of the best weeks of my managerial career. It has not often happened to me where my team has gone on to win 3 games consecutive games. We are really happy.

”We have now won 4 of our last 5 games and we were written off 2 months ago and if you look at what we have gone on to achieve we can be proud.

”We have played all 3 games this week with a small squad where no player has been rested. Other competitors have also won games in the last few days and that adds to the pressure in a mental aspect.

”We can only try to win our games and pick up points. Our goal is to stay up without the need of relegation play-offs. I maintained that was possible when I started this job and people laughed. It’s a process with players and staff where everybody has worked hard. We have achieved this together.

”PSV Eindhoven up next here at home and we intend to make it difficult for them.”
