The midfielder joined Everton from Ajax in the summer but has been frozen out since Sam Allardyce took charge of the club. The Dutch international is available for transfer this month with Fenerbahce reportedly hoping to loan him until the end of the season.

Speaking at his pre-game press conference, Sam Allardyce was asked about Klaassen and said, “We know there is a lot of talent, but it takes more than talent to perform at this level.

“Mental resilience, ability to make choices and appearance, in general, are needed to meet the demands of the Premier League on that position.

“At the moment, with what we see, it does not work, he wants to fight for his place, but before I came here and since I’ve been here, there seems to be more coming from all the other players than from Davy.”
