Yet another year in the Netherlands is in the books. There were many highs and lows at both the club and international level in 2014, but fans of Dutch football can look back on it with fondness.

Louis van Gaal led the Oranje to a third place finish at the World Cup, Ajax won a fourth consecutive Eredivisie title under Frank de Boer and many young talents burst onto the scene in a big way.

Here is a light-hearted look back at some of the most notable moments from 2014 in Dutch football:

B is for Blind, who was named the Eredivisie’s best.

C is for crushing, like the Dutch defeat to Argentina,

D is for De Boer, who’s led Ajax to four straight at the ArenA.

E is for End, of Kuyt’s illustrious international career,

F is for Feyenoord, who lost all three Klassieker’s this year.

G is for Goal, like Van Persie’s versus Spain,

H is for Hero, Luuk’s back leading PSV’s reign.

I is for Iceland, home of Heerenveen’s Golden Boot champ,

J is for Johannsson, whose privates Guy Ramos did clamp.

K is for Klaassen, the young player of the season,

L is for Lam, and a celebration beyond reason.

M is for Milan, who sent Seedorf packing,

N is for Netherlands, who dealt Spain a whacking.

O is for Old Trafford, where Van Gaal leads United’s rebirth,

P is for PSV, Cocu’s side spend Christmas in first.

Q is for Qualification, our women reach the World Cup,

R is for Roda, their Eredivisie journey is up.

S is for Southampton, whom Koeman continues to please,

T is for Tim, Krul’s penalty expertise.

U is for Under-17, the Dutch came close to winning it all,

V is for Victory, Feyenoord’s over Sevilla was quite the haul.

X is for X-Factor, and Robben’s Bayern scoring spree.

Y is for Year, one Hiddink would like to forget,

Z is for Zwolle, a first Dutch cup they did get.

Because here in the Netherlands the fun never ends,
