Vurnon Anita has joined Bulgarian side CSKA Sofia on a deal until the end of the season with an option to extend.

The 30-year-old has been without a club since being released by Leeds United in the summer.

CSKA Sofia have offered the versatile midfielder an opportunity to impress on a deal until the end of their campaign. There is an option for Anita to then remain for another year.

Anita told the club’s website, “I am ambitious and want to integrate quickly into the players group. I want to do everything this season to win a prize. I am well received here and do not expect any problems. I am fit because I have been training with Ajax in recent months.”

Anita played for Ajax and Newcastle United before joining Leeds United. He was loaned to Willem II last season.
