In ADO Den Haag’s Cars Jans Stadion, Sparta Rotterdam made a bright start and took the lead in the 2nd minute. A big error of judgement between Jonas Svensson and Marco Bizot left Abdou Harroui free to fire the ball into an empty net from distance.
However, AZ were level two minutes later as Ron Vlaar controlled the ball from a corner before setting up Oussama Idrissi to fire in the equaliser. After 16 minutes, Calvin Stengs played a lovely through ball to Myron Boadu, who finished calmly to make it 2-1.
Boadu would then head in his second of the game on 33 minutes after another fine assist by Stengs. Before the break it got worse for the visitors as Bart Vriends tackle on Boadu presented the ball to Idrissi and the winger made no mistake with his finish to make it 4-1.
AZ remained comfortable after the break and Arnie Slot was able to substitute Boadu and Stengs in order to keep them fresh for Thursday’s Europa League clash with Partizan Belgrade.
Teun Koopmeiners made it 5-1 with a penalty after Midtsjø was brought down in the box.
The comfortable win moves AZ Alkmaar into third spot. Sparta Rotterdam are now 8th.
Brilliant front 3!!! I loved Boadu he was hodo last season & at 18 has come out strong this season for Eredivisie & Europa. His link up play is great & Steng is looking Muchh better too. Keeping Idrissi was huge & Koop is wearing Captains band well.
Idrissi, Boadu & Steng just look so fluid together.
Boadu & Malen will be a Brilliant front 2 for the Dutch.
