The 18-year-old left MVV Maastricht in the summer to join the Catalan giants and is currently part of their U19 side.
However, Mbuyamba’s agent Carlos Barros has told L1 that the defender’s future is uncertain at the club with Ajax, AZ, along with several other clubs from England, Germany, Italy and Spain all showing “far-reaching interest”
Barros also believes the uncertainty from the corona virus and the upcoming presidential elections with Barcelona will cause uncertainty.
He said, “Politics play a big role, presidential elections are coming to the club. Those presidents want to bring big players like Lautaro Martinez to the club. At the same time, the club is missing a lot of income and will sell players if there is a transfer fee is feasible.
“That financial uncertainty makes it an unstable club. Where a club like Chelsea even continues to pay their own stewards, players are expected to hand in 50 to 70 percent of their salary here. Xavier could move on to the second team and Barcelona B. But the hassle now in the board and between the board and larger players does not give a good feeling for the future.”
