AZ Alkmaar has recorded their fifth straight league draw after Michiel Kramer’s late equaliser earned ADO Den Haag a 2-2 draw.

AZ went looking for their first victory in the league this season after their thrilling 1-0 win over Napoli in the Europa League on Thursday. Arne Slot’s side were still without a raft of key players, who are recovering from the coronavirus, including Myron Boadu.

AZ dominated and after Calvin Stengs had had a goal disallowed, Albert Gudmundsson gave the visitors the lead in the 33rd minute.

ADO Den Haag were lucky to only be 1-0 down at the break and Aleksandar Rankovic brought on Vicente Besuijen at the break. It improved his side and they came close when Marco Bizot had to keep out a Peet Bijen header.

In the 64th minute, Milan van Ewijk did equalise with an excellent strike from a corner. Moments later, Bijen gave the ball to Jesper Karlsson and the winger fired AZ back in front.

Gudmundsson then missed from close range before he was substituted for Ramon Leeuwin. The change invited pressure from ADO and Michiel Kramer made AZ pay with a late leveler. The striker found the net from a tight angle.

For the fifth straight league game, AZ had thrown away a lead and they now sit 10th, while ADO Den Haag are 15th.
