brom azSecond half goals from Vincent Janssen and top scorer Markus Henriksen lifted Az to 10th in the Eredivisie after only their fourth win from the opening 12 rounds of matches.

After the game AZ coach John van den Brom said he was happy with the manner in which his side worked Vitesse to eventually take control and win the match. Vitesse will however fault Marvelous Nakamba, whose careless red card just before the interval might have contributed to the outcome.

Van den Brom said, “The tactic was to ensure we made them work extra hard especially when we had possession, this indeed helped as they got tired especially in the second half.

“The season has not started well for us therefore getting such priceless three points away from home is a motivator itself,”

The match also saw Henriksen find the back of the net for the 13th time this season in all competition, one strike more than last season’s club top scorer Nemanja Gudelj,  who now plays for league leaders Ajax.
