AZ Alkmaar made it two league wins in a row with a comfortable 3-0 victory at Heerenveen.

Heerenveen went into the game full of confidence after an excellent start to the season. However, they were second best from the start against AZ Alkmaar.

In the 28th minute, Teun Koopmeiners opened the scoring from the penalty spot after a handball by  Jan Paul van Hecke. In the 40th minute, Lucas Woudenberg worked a cross from Owen Wijndal into his own net to make it 2-0.

Early in the second half, Jesper Karlsson added the third with a smart finish through Sherel Floranus’s legs.

Heerenveen could provide very little threat but Mitchell van Bergen did hit the post late on.

AZ Alkmaar climbs to 8th after the win, while Heerenveen are 6th.
