The 21-year-old has been in outstanding form this season and the four goals he scored against PEC Zwolle on Saturday took his tally to 25 for the season. Janssen is now four goals ahead of Luuk de Jong in the top scorer charts.
However, Janssen’s form has come at a price for AZ with De Telegraaf reporting that the forward is a target for both PSV Eindhoven and Ajax this summer. The Eredivisie top two both see Janssen as the ideal replacement should either Luuk de Jong or Arkaduisz Milik depart the Netherlands.
Speaking to De Telegraaf, AZ boss John van den Brom stated the club are only hopeful that Janssen will remain in Alkmaar, “Vincent is getting better, more complete and will only score more.
“I hope he is staying, but more than hope it is not. After all, we all know how it works in football … “
