A late strike from Lewis Baker earned ten-man Vitesse a 2-2 draw against a resurgent De Graafschap.

VermeijVitesse went into the game looking to drag themselves back into the race for third and out of nowhere they took the lead on 16 minutes as Marvelous Nakamba fired a fierce strike past Hidde Jurjus from 25 yards.

However, De Graafschap have found a fighting spirit in the past few weeks, which was missing during the first half of the season, and with a ferocious crowd behind them they equalised on 40 minutes. Vincent Vermeij took advantage of a scramble in the box to hammer the ball into the net.

Two minutes into the second half De Graafschap led and it was Vermeij again on the scoresheet with the striker tapping in from close range.

The home side threatened a third through Andrew Driver’s long range effort, but with only a few minutes left Lewis Baker curled a looping strike into the top corner. Vitesse pushed for a late winner, but they ended the game with ten men as Kosuke Ota earned his second yellow, and both sides settled for a point.

The point sees Vitesse remain 5th while De Graafschap open up a point gap on bottom side Cambuur.
