Erik ten Hag’s side had gone six games without a win before tasting success in the KNVB cup last week. The coach hoped his players would use that game as a springboard and after only three minutes Richairo Zivkovic, who netted twice midweek, found the opening goal after being set up by Sebastien Haller.
The hosts continued to dominate after the opener but a second goal didn’t come with both Zivkovic and Haller wasting good opportunities. Finally, ten minutes before the end Utrecht settled the game and in some style with Nacer Barazite brilliantly turning his man on the edge of the box before finishing calmly into the top corner.
