According to AS, Barcelona have told Memphis Depay that he should leave the club this summer.

The Spanish outlet is reporting that Barcelona head coach Xavi Hernandez had an honest conversation with the Dutch international during their US pre-season tour.

Xavi didn’t want to hide the reality to Memphis and told him that he should depart as there are a number of forwards ahead of him in the pecking order.

Robert Lewandowski and Raphinha are now at the club, while Ousmane Dembélé has renewed his deal. Xavi told Memphis he should depart or face a season sitting mostly on the bench.

Memphis joined Barcelona last summer and finished the season as top scorer with 12 goals in La Liga. He has been linked with several clubs already this summer including Tottenham Hotspur, Juventus, AS Roma, Olympique Marseille and Newcastle United.

Barcelona reportedly wants €20 million for the Netherlands star.
