Barcelona president Josep Bartomeu has stated the club will continue to target the Eredivisie for young talents.

Barcelona are now focusing on purchasing young talents for their squad instead of expensive senior players. In recent years the club have signed Jean-Clair Todibo (19), Ousmane Dembélé (21), Clément Lenglet (23), and Arthur (22) while they have already sealed a deal for Ajax midfielder Frenkie de Jong (21) for the summer.

Speaking to Le Figaro, Batomeu confirmed the club will continue to target young stars and mentioned the Netherlands as a country they will look at.

He said, “Our plan is to bet on young players. Todibo, De Jong, Dembélé, Lenglet and Arthur are young and have a great future at Barcelona, that is our strategy: talent is further developed within our club, we invest eighteen million euros in our training facilities every year.

“Our view of the game always remains more or less the same: plenty of ball possession, combination football, high pressure and often in 4-3-3 and occasionally 4-4-2. For us then three football schools are the most interesting: the Brazilian, the Dutch and French, the greatest talents come from those countries. “
