Charlison Benschop has departed Groningen to sign for Cypriot side Apollon Limassol.

Benschop joined Groningen from Ingolstadt 04 last summer but the move has not been a success for either party. So far this season, Benschop has made 17 Eredivisie appearances, mostly from the bench, and has scored three times.
The 30-year-old has now departed the Euroborg to join Apollon Limassol, signing a contract until 2021. No transfer fee has been announced.
Kaj Sierhuis and Joel Asoro will be Groningen’s first choice forwards in the second half of the campaign.
