Tottenham Hotspur winger Steven Bergwijn is making progress in his bid to recover from an ankle injury.

Bergwijn suffered the injury during Tottenham Hotspur’s 1-1 draw with Burnley at the start of the month and coach Jose Mourinho feared the Dutch international would be out for the rest of the season.

Speaking to Tottenham’s website, Bergwijn provided an update, “I am making progress. As you can see, I can walk again.

“When I got that kick I immediately knew it was a serious injury. I was in so much pain. I couldn’t sleep. Now I have to come back stronger. Things like this happen.”

Bergwijn has got longer to recover due to the coronavirus outbreak, which has seen the Premier League postponed, “These are difficult times for everyone. It is very crazy in the Netherlands. Everyone has to stay at home. That is not the case here. We must all stay together during this difficult time. It is no longer about football.”
