PSV Eindhoven winger Steven Bergwijn is keeping all his options open this summer and wont rule out a move to Ajax.

Ajax have confirmed that Bergwijn is on their wishlist this summer but PSV are adamant they will not sell the forward to their rival. Inter Milan, Bayern Munich and Tottenham Hotspur are also said to be following the 21-year-old.
NOS asked Bergwijn whether moving from PSV to Ajax would be a step up, and he responded, “I have to think about that. They did well this year, were fantastic in the Champions League, played beautiful football. But that is no guarantee for next year, you don’t know who will leave and who will stay. I just have to look calmly and keep everything open “
The rumours have become a joke during Netherlands training, “Jokes are being made, but I am fairly down to earth. I often hear from Donny van de Beek but he’s a good guy.”
Bergwijn is open to a transfer but he could also decide to stay in Eindhoven, “I stay fairly calm. As long as I don’t hear anything, I don’t have to worry about anything either. I don’t necessarily have to leave PSV and it doesn’t necessarily have to be Ajax, I just have to see what is best for me and for my development. ”
Going to Ajax even for one season would do him a lot of good. He needs to refine his game and become more intelligent tactically. Right now he reminds me of Memphis in his early days. He is not ready yet for a stronger league.Too inconsistent with the national team.
Completely agree. Bergwijn is at the same age when so many recent Dutch players moved to larger leagues, only to fail and have their careers hit a wall. Developing for an additional 1-2 years in Holland (with possible UCL football) would be the best move for his career at this stage.
Biggest question is whether PSV is willing to sell him to Ajax. I think Ajax may have to outbid EPL teams by millions of Euros to pull this off.
I still have a hard time seeing PSV sell to its only true domestic competitor, but IF Ajax can pull it off it would be a major coup.
Bergwijn’s the type of player who could make the difference in reaching at least the group stage of the UCL 2 years in a row. Achieving that would be an enormous success for Ajax, both financially and for their reputation as a club that can compete in Europe.
