Steven Bergwijn has stated that Jose Mourinho is a big reason why he feels so comfortable already at Tottenham Hotspur.

The attacker left PSV Eindhoven for Tottenham Hotspur in January for €35 million, and scored twice in five Premier League games before the coronavirus outbreak.
In an interview with Voetbal International, Bergwijn spoke about his relationship with Mourinho, “The image people have of him is exactly what he wants. That makes it unique, I think. Mourinho just wants to win, he radiates that in everything. At the same time, he loves his players. Before the transfer was completed, he called me, we facetimed. He wanted to know everything about me and of course when I would come and when I would train for the first time. Mourinho has a lot of confidence in me, which is partly why I felt at home so quickly, I think.”
Bergwijn sees similarities between the training method of Mourinho and his former PSV boss Mark van Bommel, “But it is harder. We play a lot of games, where the tempo is very high, but there is not much difference between the training method of Mourinho and Mark van Bommel. I think you can compare them in style and as a person. Mourinho, of course, has a lot more experience and has won many awards, but they are both very passionate and they know very well what they are doing. Both do everything for their players, they will never let them down.”
