feybesitAfter losing 2-1 at home last week Feyenoord faced an almost impossible task in Turkey, and on the night they were not good enough as Demba Ba’s hat-trick saw Besiktas safely through.

The former Chelsea, and Newcastle United forward opened the scoring just before the half hour mark, slotting into the net after Mustafa Pektemek stole the ball on the left wing, and played it into the striker’s path.

Besiktas wasted chances to extend their lead, and Feyenoord found a way back into the tie with sixteen minutes to go as Elvis Manu sprinted clear before lobbing the goalkeeper to make it 1-1.

However Feyenoord’s hope didn’t last long, with Demba Ba restoring Besiktas’s lead six minutes later, slotting in from close range. Ba completed his hat-trick with four minutes to go, with the striker intercepting Terence Kongolo’s poor backpass before rounding Mulder, and slotting into the empty net.

Over the two legs Besiktas were definitely the better team, and Feyenoord will now drop into the Europa League.
