PSV Eindhoven hosts Feyenoord on Sunday in what could be a crucial tie in the Eredivisie title race. Kick-off at the Philips Stadion is at 1.30pm UK time.

Eredivisie leaders PSV Eindhoven have stuttered in recent weeks, drawing away to both Utrecht and Heerenveen, but they remain four points clear at the top of the table.

Mark van Bommel’s side will be looking to return to winning ways when an inconsistent Feyenoord arrive at the Philips Stadion.

Feyenoord, who inflicted the first league defeat of the season on PSV Eindhoven in the reverse fixture, hammered Ajax 6-2 at the end of January, but in February they have suffered two disappointing away defeats to Excelsior and Groningen.

Feyenoord, who are 15 points behind PSV in third, go into the game with one eye on the crucial KNVB Cup semi-final with Ajax in midweek. With the Eredivisie title out of their reach, Giovanni van Bronckhorst may decide to prioritise the cup.

Van Bommel hooked Hirving Lozano at half-time in their 2-2 draw at Heerenveen but the Mexican is expected to start on Sunday. Van Bommel is set to name his prefered XI with Ryan Thomas the only long-term absentee.

Recent meetings

The two clubs have already met twice this season with Feyenoord holding PSV to a 0-0 draw in the Johan Cruijff Schaal before triumphing on penalties. They then defeated the leaders 2-1 in Rotterdam.

Last season, PSV won this fixture 1-0 thanks to an early strike by Gaston Pereiro.

Key Players

Luuk de Jong

The striker has been in sensational form for PSV this season, netting 20 goals in 22 Eredivisie appearances so far. He will be eager to add to that tally against a shaky Feyenoord defence.

Steven Berghuis

The winger welcomed a baby girl this week and he will be looking to inspire Feyenoord to a shock win on Sunday.

The winger was excellent for Feyenoord last season but he has stuttered in this campaign. The 27-year-old has ten assists and six goals to his name so far and is capable of being a match-winner for the Rotterdammers.

What to expect

PSV Eindhoven are so strong at home while Feyenoord have lost their last three league away matches. Expect the home side to take control from the start and look to prevent the visitors from building any confidence.

PSV have something to prove in this match, while Feyenoord may have their minds elsewhere.
