Bijker was free to leave the club from Leeuwarden at the end of the season after his contract had run out. He has signed a two year deal at Heerenveen with the option of a further year on top.
The 22 year old, who can also fill in at left-back, made over 90 appearances in yellow and blue. Most notably, the Brazilian born Dutchman helped Cambuur win promotion to the Eredivisie in 2013.
After the blow of losing goalkeeper Kristoffer Nordfeldt to Swansea City earlier this week, Heerenveen received further positive news. Young central defender Joost van Aken signed a new long term deal today lasting until the summer of 2018.
