The 26-year-old completed his medical on Wednesday evening and signed a three-year-deal with Brentford, who are coached by Dutchman Marinus Dijkhuizen. The fee for the deal is believed to be €3 million.
Dijkhuizen told the official Brentford site on his new signing, “I am very happy that we have brought Andreas to Brentford.
“He brings a lot of experience to the squad and that is good for us as we have a lot of young players.
“He is good defender but also likes to play football from the back. Andreas is also a Danish international and it is good for the image of Brentford FC that we can attract such players.”
Bjelland, who is a 21 time Danish international, joined Twente from Danish side FC Nordsjaelland in 2012, with the centre back making 65 league appearances for the club.
After the departures of Darryl Lachman, Kasper Kusk, Bilal Ould-Chikh, and Luc Castaignos, cash-strapped Twente have now lost their captain and fans will be worried about more departures before the start of the season.
