Despite a difficult few weeks, Ajax defender Daley Blind believes his side can make life difficult for Real Madrid in the Champion League.

Apart from a 6-0 victory over VVV Venlo, Ajax have had a torrid time since the winter break. Erik ten Hag’s side drew 4-4 with Heerenveen at home, while also losing 6-2 against rivals Feyenoord and 1-0 to Heracles on Saturday.

Despite their poor form at the moment, Daley Blind is remaining positive ahead of their clash at home to Real Madrid on Wednesday.

He told Ajax TV, “Real just remains world class. It will not be easy but I think we have a team that can make it difficult for any team. And we also have a team that creates opportunities in every game. We will have to finish the chances we get and hope that we can achieve a good result at home, so that we can compete in the away match to continue another round.”

Blind believes the team need to put their form behind them, “It is clear that we have to train hard tomorrow (Tuesday). The fun has to return to the group, no matter how difficult it seems now. We have to form a unit, that is the medicine to start performing well again. And we have to trust what we can do. Let’s start on that Wednesday. ”
