Blind named his provisional squad for the friendlies with Wales and Germany later this month and the biggest surprise, alongside the axing of Robin van Persie, was the omission of Memphis Depay.
The former PSV star has failed to hit top form since his big money move to Manchester United in the summer, and has recently been dropped to the bench by Louis van Gaal.
During his press conference Blind issued Memphis a warning that he needs to learn to work as part of a team if he is to return to the national team.
Blind said, “I think Depay is a player for the future,”
“But there are other issues we’ll look at – maybe Louis van Gaal has also mentioned that.
“In football, you must also function in a team – and he doesn’t always do that. I told him that when I called him to say he wasn’t in the squad. It’s something he has to learn.”
