The versatile Dutchman has featured mainly at either left back or in a defensive midfield position so far in his career, but featured in the centre of defence for the 1-0 friendly win over Club America on Saturday morning.
After Blind impressed in the role, Louis van Gaal confirmed that the 25-year-old could fill in at centre back next season with the club currently short of numbers in that position.
Van Gaal said when asked about Blind staying at centre back, “It could be, it could be.
“Marcos Rojo is not here, he shall come on July 25. I want to play always with a left-footed central defender and he can do the job. Maybe he shall play. But other players can play there
“Last year I played with Jones and Smalling in that position. Even McNair has played there. But my preference is always a left-footed central defender.
“In Rojo and Blind, we have two players who can play there.”
Blind can play in the centre back, i think LVG should use him there if luke shaw perform well but he must sign a new centre back like nicolas otamendi
