Netherlands coach Danny Blind is hoping to have an influence on Memphis Depay after recalling him to the squad for the friendlies with Wales and Germany.

A week ago on Monday Blind decided to leave the out of form Manchester United winger out of his provisional Netherlands squad and criticised the 21-year-old for not being a team player. However four days later the coach changed his mind and Memphis was called up for the ties with Wales and Germany.
Speaking to a press conference Blind explained his decision, stating that he hopes to have an influence on the attacker’s form.
Blind said, “The message to Memphis remains the same,”
“I’ve been thinking about his situation. Memphis is a boy with a future. I decided to call him because I have him with me and can influence him. That’s better than seeing him only in March (the next international games,)”
Blind also spoke with Louis van Gaal, “He confirmed to me that Memphis is training well and he shows ambition to come back into the team,”
