AZ Alkmaar striker Myron Boadu has revealed that he was never approached by Ghana before making his Netherlands debut earlier in the season.

The 19-year-old was eligible for both Ghana and the Netherlands before he tied himself to Oranje in November. The youngster scored in the 5-0 win over Estonia.

In an interview with the AZ website, Boadu was asked if he was ever approached by Ghana, “No actually not. Me, my parents and my agent have never had a call or anything. So I didn’t have to choose. In the end it all went quickly with Oranje. ”

Boadu, who was also named in the most recent Netherlands provisional squad, is disappointed that the Euro’s have been pushed back a year, “That is a shame, of course. But health is the most important thing. The pre-selection does show that the national coach has confidence in me. ”
