Myron Boadu was the star for AZ Alkmaar in his return to the starting eleven as AZ Alkmaar defeated Heracles Almelo 2-1.

For the first time in more than a month, Boadu was named in the AZ starting eleven. The striker had an illness and then lost his spot to Albert Gudmundsson.

Boadu went close to opening the scoring early on but saw his header tipped onto the bar by Michael Brouwer. At the other end, Rai Vloet missed a big chance for Heracles.

Then in the 40th minute, Boadu was brought down by Robin Pröpper and Teun Koopmeiners made it 1-0 with a penalty. Four minutes later, Koopmeiners set up Boadu to net the second goal.

Calvin Stengs hit the post early in the second half as it seemed AZ were going to ease to victory. However, Lucas Schoofs scored an excellent goal to make it 2-1 in the 75th minute.

The goal did not start a comeback though, as AZ comfortably held on for the victory. They sit seventh in the table, while Heracles are 15th.
