Boetius left Feyenoord for Basel eighteen months ago but has struggled for playing time in Switzerland, making only 14 appearances in total, with two of those coming this season.

The 22-year-old will now end the season with Genk, who have signed Boetius as a replacement for Leon Bailey who left the club for Bayer Leverkusen. Genk have also included an option to sign Boetius permanently.
