Feyenoord have been searching for a new winger to replace Eljero Elia, who sealed his move to Istanbul Basaksehir earlier this week, and have decided to bring Boetius back from Switzerland.

The 23-year-old was an exciting talent when he came through the Feyenoord academy, but after a poor campaign he decided to leave in August 2015 for Basel. His move to Switzerland wasn’t a success and he joined Genk on a six month loan deal towards the end of last season. Despite impressing for the Belgians, Genk decided not to make the winger’s move permanent, which has paved the way for a return to De Kuip.

According to AD, Feyenoord expect to quickly wrap up the deal and will soon announce Boetius as their first summer signing. Basel only require a small fee for the one time Netherlands international.
