Peter Bosz, the former Ajax manager who led the club to the Europa league final last season, has set his sights on a reunion with defender Matthijs de Ligt and goalkeeper Andre Onana, according to Sport Bild.

De Ligt, 18, has been in the spotlight recently with Barcelona reportedly interested in securing the young talent while Onana, 22, has also been on the receiving end of transfer speculation, with Napoli a potential destination. However, after selling Davinson Sanchez in the summer, Ajax director of football Marc Overmars made it clear the club were in no need to sell and that they would act firmly to keep key players – such as Onana and de Ligt – as Amin Younes begrudgingly found out.
Whether any move materialises remains doubtful, with both players verbally committing their immediate future to the club. However, if Ajax’s sub-par performances continue, the chance to reunite with their old coach, compete in Europe, and press for a domestic German title may prove a tougher opportunity to turn down than many consider.
