Bayer Leverkusen are a step closer to sealing a place in the Champions League next season after a 3-1 victory over Cologne.

With Borussia Monchengladbach winning against Wolfsburg on Tuesday the pressure was on Bayer Leverkusen to beat Cologne in the battle for fourth. Daley Sinkgraven was left on the bench by Peter Bosz, while Kingsley Ehizibue started for Cologne.

Sven Bender made it 1-0 after just seven minutes, and just before the break Kai Havertz made it 2-0. Sebastian Bornauw headed Cologne back into the game just after the break, but Moussa Diaby sealed the victory for Leverkusen.

Bosz’s side now sits 4th with two games left to play. They face Hertha Berlin on Saturday before ending the season against Mainz a week later.
