The 32-year-old’s deal ran out at the end of the season and talks over a new contract had been dragging on.
Botteghin gained interest from Turkey, Italy and other countries around Europe, but has now decided to sign a new one-year deal in Rotterdam.
Botteghin told the club’s website, “I have already experienced many highlights here with the team, the other colleagues and of course the supporters.Β However, I still had the feeling that I am not done yet at Feyenoord.Β Last season we were working on a great series and everyone has the feeling that we want to continue that next season.”
Botteghin has been with Feyenoord since 2015 and has played 142 times for the club.
