excelsior - utrechtDijkhuizen left Excelsior in June to take over the English club, but after only nine games he has been dismissed. Brentford currently sit 19th in the league with only two wins all season.

The 43-year-old took to twitter to announce his shock at the quick sacking, as he tweeted, ” Completely shocked by our resignation already! Too short but I enjoyed working at Brentford. Escpecially the fans and atmosphere at GP.”

Dijkhuizen’s assistant Roy Hendriksen has also left the club, with Lee Carsley set to take over.
