The 21-year-old seemed set for a loan move to PEC Zwolle earlier in the day on Tuesday, but now Brighton and Hove Albion have entered the race. The Premier League side wants to sign the Netherlands U21 international on a permanent deal and is negotiating a fee with Ajax, according to AD.
Scherpen has made four appearances for Ajax this season, but he is set to move further down the pecking order after the arrival of Remko Pasveer, while Jay Gorter is set to be signed from Go Ahead Eagles.
Scherpen is keen to get regular first-team football next season and it remains to be seen what plans Brighton would have for the youngster.
Good for Scherpen to move on, he is a good keeper but did not really impress during his appearances with AJAX, I wish him well but it is good for both AJAX an d him if he moves on.
